On her new CD, Dancing in the Kitchen, Wisconsin native Sharon Schmidt sounds like she’s
been working the great jazz clubs of New York for years. Dancing is a collection of standards plus
one original. For most of the disc, Schmidt confidently interprets songs by Gershwin, Johnny
Mercer, the Duke and others, accompanied by a crack combo of local jazz players. Schmidt
performs Tuesday, March 21 as part of the popular “Chick Singer Night” at Caroline’s and
entertains the dinner crowd March 25 at the Golden Mast Inn.

excerpts:

Schmidt's new CD "Dancing In The Kitchen" is her effort at recapturing an earlier era. The CD playlist includes jazz classics from music legends such as George Gershwin and Duke Ellington as well as one original song with both music and lyrics by Schmidt. She said she is already getting requests for songs to sing on her next CD.
This week she is rehearsing for a performance with the Kettle Morraine High School Orchestra at Puttin On The Ritz, a fundraiser for the high school orchestra's music programs and for fine arts scholarships.
Melissa Rigney Baxter - Waukesha Freeman (May 10, 2006)
Tall, beautiful, talented, classy and very polished. This describes Sharon Schmidt, one of the four Divas who performed in February at Long Wongs with the All Star Superband.

Sharon brings smiles and chills to her audience with her renditions of romantic standards and popular tunes. Her style is uncomplicated, smooth, entertaining and sexy - reminiscent of songstress Marilyn Larsen.
Sharon's voice is very unique and blends well with the variety of groups she has performed with, including Dixieland bands.
Sharon appears at Neighbor's Bistro in Waukesha with Dan Albrechtson and Rob Moore and Robert LaPaz and at the Grove in Elm Grove and is currently working on a CD with Tom Utschig studios.
